[Late Winter/Early Spring 2026 Nursery Update!]

We are still in the thick of winter here, with 1–2 feet of snow on the ground and single digit nighttime temperatures. While we aim to maintain a fast shipping schedule, our top priority is protecting your plants. We will harvest, process, and ship orders only during windows of mild weather to ensure your cuttings and plants arrive safely. (We cannot wait for temps to go above freezing!)

We can’t wait for the growing season to begin!

We only have well rooted small plants this season, Next year we hope to have a large amount of cuttings for your own propagations! (Remember they are a cold climate berry, If you live in zone 8 or warmer they may struggle!)

Lonicera caerulea ‘Indigo Gem’ (Honeyberry / Haskap)

Indigo Gem is a reliable, high-yielding haskap cultivar known for its consistent production and firm berries. The fruit has a pleasant sweet-tart flavor and holds up well even when fully ripe.

Honeyberries (also called haskaps) are extremely cold-hardy shrubs, surviving temperatures down to USDA Zone 2. They are gaining popularity with growers and home gardeners thanks to their early harvest and flavorful berries.

Plants grow to about 5 ft tall and benefit from soils with neutral pH, though they can tolerate conditions up to pH 7.5. Like many fruiting shrubs, they perform best in soils rich in organic matter.

Honeyberries root readily from cuttings, making them easy to propagate once established. For healthy growth and good fruit production, plan on annual pruning of roughly 20–30% of older growth.

Growing notes

Mature height: ~5 ft

Berry texture: firm even when ripe

Soil: prefers neutral pH, tolerant up to 7.5

Best growth in high-organic-matter soils

Annual pruning: 20–30%

**Standard Cuttings: Typically 1/6-3/8" thick and 4 inches long. These premium cuttings are ideal for reliable propagation. Their larger size allows direct planting into firm ground without tools. The larger size also makes them easy to locate as other plants grow around them later in the season.

**Bulk/Grade B Cuttings: A mix of larger and smaller cuttings, Cost-effective for establishing larger quantities, these are used for our own nursery stock propagation. Smaller 1st year Hardwood and larger 2nd year hardwood can require a little more/time and care to establish.

**Rooted Cuttings: Cuttings rooted in sterile soil, shipped in deep plugs. These grow quickly at this stage. You can see them pictured!

**First-Year Live Plants: Large, well-established first-year plants. These plants are up to 1' tall and develop into semi-mature bushes by the next growing season.
