Meet Joe Fisher

Two decades of homesteading experience on and off grid

Hi, I'm Joe Fisher, and I've been homesteading for over 20 years in the mountains of the North East. Like many others after 2020, I've watched more people embrace self-sufficiency and the desire to grow their own food and medicine and I couldn't be more excited to be part of that movement.

The Mission

Elderfrost was born from a simple mission: to offer rare, hard-to-find plants that are native or well-adapted to North America. I focus on varieties that serve real purposes, food, medicine, and self-sufficiency. You'll never find invasive plants here, only safe, sustainable varieties that will thrive in your garden and support your goals.

The Name & Place

The name "Elderfrost" comes from two things I love: elderberries and the cold mountains of Zone 5 in Northeast. Gardening in this challenging climate has shaped everything about this nursery, I primarily grow what can truly handle our harsh winters and short growing seasons.

The Personal Touch

I do all the propagation, packaging, and shipping myself. Every single plant passes through my hands before it reaches you.

Values & Commitment

Everything is grown without any fertilizers, or chemical interventions of any kind. Only, homemade compost, biochar and mulch.

I'm always experimenting with new varieties and techniques, especially with Elderberries and Haskaps/Honeyberry

Chemical-Free

Naturally grown using sustainable methods
